United Church Women
Fairview UCW women are women that are young, older and in-between of various backgrounds and ages; young mothers, grandmothers, homemakers and career women with a common interest in learning about and influencing positively our changing society and our church.
The UCW provides a meeting place where women can join with others in fellowship, mission and shared interests in the growing role of women in the world. Some of the local charities that we do actively support are Halifax West Ecumenical Food Bank, Brunswick Street Campers, local hospitals and nursing homes and other local interests/charities. We do visit elderly and shut-ins throughout the year, especially at Easter and Christmas with cookie plates and cards.
We have three units that get together on different days and times from September to May. Each group has their own individual way of meeting, from craft evenings, having speakers, organizing events, baking, secret pals or just getting together for the fellowship and friendship. We hold two general meetings a year.
Membership is open to all and new members are welcome any time. If you are interested in joining one of our units, please contact the church office.
